Be Prepared for Emergencies: Guests expect their hotel choice to provide excellent safety and security but even the best security measures may not prevent an emergency from occurring. With the possibility of hundreds or even thousands of people staying in your hotel, it is important that you have a clear plan for emergencies. 

Have the right equipment: Hotels need to have the right hotel supplies to be able to maintain their business and daily activities. It is important to have a hotel management software systems, transportation for airport shuttles, the right lecterns and podiums in your conference room, and the right public address systems within the hotel. Daily comforts such as clean towels, bed made, a clean room, toiletries and trash removed must be maintained on daily basis and in a timely fashion.

Importance of the Housekeeping Department

How important are the duties that the housekeeping department has in the hotel industry?

Thinking of the different departments that are involved in a hotel I get to think which one could be the most important, but with this I do not mean to say that one is more important than the other; all the departments within a hotel play a very important role while attending a guess.


The housekeeping department as vital in the services provided to you when you stay in a hotel. This department has many duties and it does not focus only in one service.

The housekeeping department is the one that gives you an opinion of “where are you staying” As the food’s first judgment enters through your eyes, the cleanness of a room, the organization, the dusting, among others, are just a few factors that will provide you with an idea of how a hotel cares about you as a guess. However, all of these ideas can be achieved through investment.

One of the characteristic that this department has is the multiple duties which its staff has to deal with. Housekeeping involves many things, from keeping a room clean to wash blankets.

The staff that is fully involved with this department goes from a room attendant, that is the person that is in charge of the different inspection throughout the different rooms; he or she has the responsibility of checking that everything is in order inside the room, also the room attendant is the responsible for cleaning dust, making beds, among others, to the front desk person, that is the one that facilitates the guess´ primary needs such as: making a reservation , picking a room, ordering something for the guess, among other needs.
